Here is the story of how Kadence got here. As you can see it is a long story so if you want you can skip to the pictures you can.
The Pregnancy wasn't that great, but I lived and so did Nate. About a month before I was due I was at work and having some strong stomach pains so my co-workers talked me into getting checked out. I went to the OB ER at about 9:00am and they checked me out and I wasn't dilated or anything so they ruled out labor. They then thought it might be my appendix. There is only so many tests you can get when your pregnant so I had to get a MRI. I got the MRI at about 1:00ish. While I was waiting for my results the doctors had a shift change so my new doctor came and checked on me and she looked at my machine and said I was having regular contractions 1-2 minutes apart. This was starting clear back before I got my MRI. She checked me again and I was dilated to a one. I couldn't feel each contraction the pain was constant. I got my test back and my appendix was ship shape, but I was in labor. They were a little worried about how I was a month early but not enough to try to stop it. They moved me from the ER about 4:00pm to a normal room to sit and wait. I called Nate at work and told him I was kind of in labor he didn't know what that meant but came anyway. We sat there for a couple hours watching TV then finally they came to check on me again. My contractions were 15 min. apart and I was still at a one. So, they decided it was safe to send me home thinking my labor was just slow.A few days later I went to my regular appt. and still no progress, but my dr. was sure it was going to be any day now. That weekend Nate and I hurried and got the rest of the baby stuff.
So, now that we were ready the baby never came. I ended up going a week over and I had to be induced.
It was such a weird feeling leaving the house knowing we were coming back with a baby. We got to the hospital at 8:00pm and I was dilated to a 3. They gave me medicine to help me dilate more, then 2 hours later started the Pitosin to start contractions. It kicked in pretty fast. My contractions were 2-5 minutes apart and were very uncomfortable. I tried to get some sleep but was in too much pain and the baby's oxygen level kept dropping so they kept telling to switch positions. Then they put me on oxygen. Nate had a good night sleep on the cot next to me, but he did say he woke up every once in a while because of my painful moans (poor thing). At about 6:00am they checked me and I was at a 4. I was pissed. I was in so much pain all night for one little centimeter. I kept turning down the epidural offer so labor would go faster, but it was all for nothing. I decided to get it because I couldn't take the pain anymore. Then they told me it would be an hour wait. That is not what you want to hear when your in that much pain. But they came in about 20 min. When I stood up my water broke. I know everyone says this, but it is because its true, I thought I was just peeing my pants. While they gave me the epidural I was in so much pain I couldn't sit still. I felt sick so Nate came to give me my puke bowl but wasn't quite fast enough. I threw up mostly in the bowl but some got on Nate, the nurse and the floor. The good thing was with so much going on I didn't even notice them giving me the epidural. Well, I know it is a given to anyone who has had one, but the epidural was heaven!
My dr. came to say good bye because she was off for the day and she didn't think I was going to have this baby anytime soon. So, the new dr came in to check my progress and I was dilated to a 9. I went from a 4 to a 9 in less than a half hour. They ran and checked to see if they could catch my dr. and were just in time. After about 20-30 min. of pushing they decided to use the vacuum. They got her head out but her shoulders got stuck. The room went from me, Nate, 1 nurse and my dr. to 20 people in seconds. I didn't realize what was going on. I had a nurse in my face yelling at me to breath and someone pushing on my stomach so I couldn't see much. Finally the baby was out. That is when I realized how many people were in the room. I didn't really get to see Kadence, but before they took her to the nursery my nurse made them let me hold her for 2 seconds. Anyway that is the story. Sorry it was so long. Here are the pics.
